This is a great opportunity for your son/daughter to:
- build confidence, communication and leadership skills
- improve their understanding of the game
- gain experience that’s valuable for CVs
- earn match fees
Safeguards & support are a key part of the programme
Important points to note:
✅ Young referees will be fully insured by the DDSL
✅ Online training, mentoring and referee gear are provided. (Additional mentoring will be provided by the club after course completion.)
✅ Referees are supervised by club officials
✅ There will be strict league sanctions for any abuse
We are aiming to recruit around 6 young referees from the club. Refereeing is flexible and won’t interfere with their own matches. Young referees can also buddy up with a friend or teammate, especially when starting out.
